Whenever I travel, or have a weekend to myself at home, I am always scouting out places I can take my book and comfortably sit alone and read. A Sunday spent in various coffee shops, reading all day, is really my idea of heaven.
I wanted to share my recommendations of where to do this, and to also know where you like to take your book in your own city. Please comment here to tell me where you’re from, where you like to read, and any notes on that space (e.g get there early to get a window seat, don’t go on weekends, order the matcha…)
Over the next few weeks I will be sending out newsletters for each city, with a link to a google maps with everything saved. I hope people who join our community can continue to share recommendations on each post, all of which I will add to the google list. And in time we will all have access to the worldwide recommendation of where to take a book!
Thank you all so much,
Lizzy

P.S, this might mean over the next month you get a lot of newsletters in your inbox from me! I hope it isn’t too irritating, and even if most cities aren’t relevant to you, this will be something you can come back to whenever you travel.
I’ve lived in North London for the last few years, and I love to go and read at Rustique in Tufnell Park. The owner is the friendliest guy, always willing to chat books with you. All the food is homemade and the coffee is great. Even if you’ve forgotten your book that day, they have plenty on the shelves inside, and the owner will always have one to recommend.
I live in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and there are many nice places to take a book and read! A really nice place is Koffie Leute. You have all these different kinds of seats (chairs, couches, lounge places). Here you can enjoy a really nice coffee and read for a while!
